I have 33,000 miles on my Galant. Jiffy Lube is saying its time to change the transmission fluid and want to charge me $100.00. Do I need to change it? If yes how do I go about doing that.Do I need to change my transmission fluid on my 2006 Mitsubishi Galant?

Whiles Yes you can change your tranny fluid, you have a ways to go. Wait till 60k and then change it. OH.. you can do it yourself. It's a simple drain and fill with ATF +4.
you probably need about 3 quarts
There is NO transmission filter element to be replaced either.
The filter is simply a mesh screen that is only replaced IF the transmission is physically removed for servicing.

what does your owners manual say? it'll probably have a range from 30-60k. 60k is if you drive only on the hwy at 55 mph and the temperature never goes above 80 or below 40, you don't tow and don't drive through mountains.
your owners manual will say that tough driving is any start and stop, short trips (under 10 minutes), driving at high speeds (usually defined as over 60), driving in extreme weather (meaning hot or cold), driving in dusty conditions, towing, driving through mountains or under a load. if you do more than 3 of those things they want you to use the shorter intervals listed.

depending on your car, some new cars are supposed to get their first fluid changes such transmission quite early due to the break-in and not according to regular schedule but after a certain amount of time then you follow the regular changes.
