Change transmission fluid for a 1999.5 Jetta GLS?

Does anyone know how to change the transmission fluid for a 1999.5 Jetta GLS? I'm really new at this and I need to know the proper way.Change transmission fluid for a 1999.5 Jetta GLS?
If it's an automatic, then it's indeed trans fluid that's to be changed. However, a manual transmission takes synthetic gear oil, and mixing up the two would be disastrous.

I reccomend consulting a Bentley manual for your engine model, or the car forum below:Change transmission fluid for a 1999.5 Jetta GLS?
If it's an auto, be sure you use only VW approved fluid. The wrong fluid can ruin the transmission.Change transmission fluid for a 1999.5 Jetta GLS?
Is it a manual or an automatic?

The only one I know how to do off the top of my head is for a manual transmission.

There is a drain plug on the bottom of the tranny, which needs a special tool to take off. I think it's a 17mm torx bit. You drain the tranny off all oil and replace the plug.

On the front(towards the front of the car) side of the tranny, about halfway up, there is a fill port that is difficult to get to. But once you find a way to pour the gear oil in there, via hose/long funnel, you need to put in 2.1 liters of oil. Measuring 2.1 liters isn't important, as when it's full, it will overflow out of the hole.

You can find the oil here: http://www.germanautoparts.com/Volkswage or at a local autoparts place. I recommend Redline MT-90. You'll need 3 liters in total.

If it's automatic, here's a quick read through, but the pics don't work. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id
