How often should transmission fluid be changed?

I have a 1999 Ford Tauras SE and it has 160K Miles on it. It runs great. I just wondering how often it should be changed and what the benefits are to it. Thanks. How often should transmission fluid be changed?
Every 75,000 miles is the recommended time frame. Tranmission oil, as well as all oils, break down and loose their viscosity (oiliness) over time. When this happens, there is not enough lubrication between the moving parts, which will eventially cause them to freeze up, and the transmission to fail. How often should transmission fluid be changed?
The conservative figure is every 30k but it really depends on the car.How often should transmission fluid be changed?
If you have and owners manual it will give you all the information in regards to maintenance. If not change fluid and filter every 30,000 miles. When you check your engine oil, check all other fluids. You should do this at least once a month. Change your engine oil every 3000 miles or every 3 to 4 months, which ever comes first. I hope this information helps you.How often should transmission fluid be changed?
Typically every 30,000 miles. You can check the fluid status by pulling out a sample from the dipstick. If its black and smells like burnt metal then you'll definitely need to change it. The normal fluid color is red.How often should transmission fluid be changed?
Ok, I have checked your answers, lots of good ones, but I have a different number, 50,000 miles and change the trans filter at the same time. If you do it yourself, It can be done for about $30. Transmission changes are over a $1000, good investment. How often should transmission fluid be changed?
Transmission oil is red, look at the color on the dipstick, turning dark or black change it, still bright red leave it alone.
