my car was idling and not knowing i put it into drive and the transmission jumped, then it started leaking tranny fluid. i was told to replace the transmission line bolt but the transmission is slipping. should i try changing the valve and fluids before putting in a new or rebuilt transmission.HOW DO I KNOW IF MY TRANSMISSION IN MY 1998 FORD TAURS NEEDS TO BE REBUILT OR JUST THE VALVES AND FLUID CHANGE?
first i would fix the leak then change the fluid and filter. if it,s been slipping for sometime, you might need to have it rebuilt or get another transmission.
