How do you get someone to understand the importance of changing transmission fluid?

I posted a question about changing this fluid and got some good answers a few days ago.

I need to understand how come the owner of the car doesn't see the importance in it cause her husband said it should not be done cause when it is changed it causes problems in the transmission.

I really wish I could understand their thinking on this but I just can't put my finger on it.

All insight on this is appreciated. The owner doesn't believe what I say to be true but I am trying to save her thousands of dollars.

No this is not me and my car. I am just wondering if anyone has known someone like this and could you ever get your point across to them. How do you get someone to understand the importance of changing transmission fluid?

Well, probably for the same reason other people don't do it.

If it were a newer car, say 10 years old or less, I'd change it at the specified times.

BUT

Say the car is 30 years old..........

I had an old ford, a 70, that All I did was put gas in and add oil when it needed it. I bought if for a hundred bucks.

I went from the east coast to the west coast numerous times and put thousands of miles on it over a period of five years. I would still have it running if it weren't for the electrical problems that mechanics couldn't fix. The car would go 120 MPH plus and rode like a dream and I never changed the oil or transmission fluids. But then again, cars back then were built to last with minimum maintenance. Unlike today's disposable cars that you buy, drive for three years, and then get rid of before they crap out on you.
