If I remember correctly. Volvo uses a trans from Aisin-Warner. It requires it's VERY own fluid, from the Volvo dealer. You should call several Volvo dealerships and ask if they are running a trans fluid and filter change service SPECIAL. Many times, they do. THis is the most practical way to be sure that you are doing right for your car. Most European car-makers and Asian car-maker have their very own trans fluid tyoes. E.g., there is Dexron-T, for Toyota; Dexron-H for Honda, etc. Many European cars feature trans fluid that is like synthetic mineral oil instead of petroleum based. READ your manual in the SPECIFICTIONS list for the actual preferred type of fluid!! Many European based cars also have torque converters with drain plugs. This eases the job by making sure ALL the fluid actually is drained before refill!
